FAQ
Questions server owners ask.
Short answers about what Highwatch needs, what it does, and what it never does.
What is Highwatch?
A desk for running a DayZ PC server: a desktop app for your staff, an observe-only server mod, and a small ingest service that keeps your data and runs alerts, Anti-Cheat and a Discord bot. You see live players on the real map, anti-cheat evidence, performance, storage and economy in one place.
Is Highwatch free?
Yes, during early access.
What is the access key?
Early access builds only open with one. Yours is posted in your private ticket when you are approved. One key covers your community, so every staff member's app can use it. Keep it private. If you lose it or think it leaked, open a support ticket and we will replace it.
Do I need CFTools?
Yes. The desktop app pairs your servers through the CFTools Data API, and server endpoints need a CFTools Basic subscription or higher. The @Highwatch mod then adds what CFTools does not report: positions, hits, bases, storage, timing and more.
Will the mod clash with GameLabs or my other mods?
It is built to run beside CFTools GameLabs. It never redeclares a vanilla or GameLabs class, every hook calls the original, and everything it adds carries a Hw prefix.
Do players need to download anything?
No. The mod is server side only, loaded with -serverMod.
Does it cost server performance?
Very little. The mod measures its own work, and heavy jobs like the storage scan run in small batches spread across many server frames.
Does Highwatch ban players?
No. It never kicks or bans on its own. Anti-Cheat observations are evidence for your staff to confirm or dismiss, and BattlEye stays your anti-cheat. See Anti-Cheat.
Does it collect player IP addresses?
No. Highwatch never collects, stores, shows or posts them.
Where does my data live?
On your ingest, the small service the mod reports to. Events are kept for 90 days by default, and you can change that.
Which maps are supported?
The live map draws 42 official and modded maps, including Chernarus, Livonia, Sakhal, Deer Isle, Namalsk and Banov, from the Highwatch map server. You can point Highwatch at your own DZMap tile server, and everything else in Highwatch works on any map.
Does it work with LBmaster and DayZ Expansion?
Yes. Both are read. Expansion market trades, territories, parties and settings show up in the app, and nothing is written to LBmaster unless you turn writes on.
Which computers run the app?
Windows (x64) and macOS on Apple silicon.
Does it work on console servers?
No. Highwatch is for DayZ PC servers, where you can load server mods.
