Setup guide
Set up Highwatch on your DayZ server.
From nothing to a fully connected server in about half an hour. Five steps, plus two optional ones.
What you need
- A DayZ PC server where you can add server mods.
- A CFTools account with your server in it. The desktop app reads the CFTools Data API; server endpoints need a CFTools Basic subscription or higher.
- Windows (x64) or macOS on Apple silicon for the desktop app.
Step 1: Get your access key
Highwatch is in early access. Join the Highwatch Discord, open a ticket in #open-a-ticket with Request early access, and tell us your server's name, map, rough player count, and whether you run LBmaster or DayZ Expansion.
When you are approved, your access key is posted in your private ticket. One key covers your community, so every staff member's app can use it. Keep it private: anyone with it can use your early access.
Step 2: Install the desktop app
Download Highwatch for Windows or macOS from the releases page. The first time it opens it asks for your access key.
The builds are not signed yet. On Windows, SmartScreen warns: choose More info, then Run anyway. On macOS, right-click the app, choose Open, then Open again.
Then open Integrations, then CFTools Cloud, and use Discover servers to pair the servers your CFTools application can see.
Step 3: Install the @Highwatch server mod
Download the mod from the Early access card in the app, under Integrations.
- Copy the
@Highwatchfolder to your server root. - Add
-serverMod=@Highwatchto the launch parameters. It runs beside@GameLabs, and the order does not matter. It is server side only, so players download nothing. - Start the server once. The mod writes
profiles/Highwatch/config.jsonand waits for its settings.
Step 4: Connect the mod to your ingest
The ingest is the small service the mod reports to. It keeps your data, and runs alerts, Anti-Cheat and the Discord bot while the app is closed.
In config.json, set endpoint and apiKey to your ingest's address and server key, then restart. The server log shows First post acknowledged by the ingest. when it works. Never post your key anywhere, including support tickets.
Step 5: Connect the app to the ingest
In the app, open Integrations, then Highwatch Ingest, and use Connect feed. The map, metrics, Anti-Cheat and storage pages fill in within a minute or two.
Optional: the Discord bot
The bot runs inside your ingest, so there is no separate bot to host. In the app, open Integrations, then Discord, to route each feed to a channel and place the live status board. See the Discord bot for what it posts.
Optional: LBmaster
If you run LBmaster, you get a ready-made entry for profiles/LBmaster/Common/Api.json. Paste it into the entries list and restart. The server pairs itself; there is nothing else to configure.
Stuck?
